The Telangana government plans to sell small housing board plots up to 100 square yards to current homeowners and regularize additional adjoining land to resolve long-pending issues and boost revenue. Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy directed officials to prepare reports on market prices, unregistered plots, and related data for cabinet approval.
Key Plot Measures Officials must compile details on plots below 100 square yards, sub-registrar values, and cases for combined registration of adjoining land. Homeowners unable to register allotted plots will get opportunities to do so alongside purchases.
Lease and Shop Reforms The government will tighten controls on leases to 115 institutions (from Nizam era), issue renewal notices, and address rent arrears and court cases at seven sites. For 287 remaining housing board shops (62 vacant), options include selling to traders at market rates or auctioning unviable ones, amid crores in unpaid dues.
Legal Steps A special advocate will handle court cases to protect board lands from encroachment. These steps aim to prevent misuse and enhance revenue collection.
